Storyline- Throughout time, there was always a stigma where black girls who carried themselves like queens, still get treated like they’re less in society. That’s why the quote in this painting states, “Black teardrops in a black pond, little black queens treated like black pawns”. I used chess pieces; a queen piece with Afro hair wearing a gold crown to represent the queen that she is and she’s looking into the water as she’s seeing herself in the reflection of a pawn piece. Tears is flowing down into the water. Since there has been this norm in society that black is inferior, some actually started believing that they’re not superior or special. But they are queens, they matter and they’re beautiful. It just takes a change so that they can truly realize and see the gem that they truly are.
- This reproduction is on Matte Paper with a white border for proper framing and is signed by me, Brittany Davis. These Prints mimic my Original Artwork that will be more affordable.
